CLUB UPDATE – WOW! The Club is really coming together, so thank you to all our wonderful sponsors that have made these improvements possible.
Dean Waddell from Pak N Save Cameron RoadTony Rich from Gerrand FlooringGreg Clarke from Hawridge DevelopmentsDoug Stewart from Higher Safe NZLee Hillier – BrushcraftSid Carter – Height 4 Hire,
Nick Shearman – Glass Art NZ

Also to our tireless helpers, of special note Doug Stewart, Ken Wilson, Ian Thomas, Lee Lawson, Alana Duncan, Kane DeRaat along with many others who have put in their own time and money to pull this job together.

THE PLAN – The Club will be hosting an OPEN DAY from 11am on Saturday 13th June.  We look forward to welcoming back our members in what is a very uncertain time for Clubs, hospitality and events.  With this in mind the Committee have proposed the Bar opening days be from Thursday – Saturday. Outside of these times members will be expected to be in the Club for the purpose of dining.  The restaurant Little Fish Cafe & Bistro therefore will be open Tuesday -Sunday. (with Sunday only being lunch service).

We also working on announcing a Snapper Tournament for late June, and our Marine Reflections Top Gun Challenge, plus a new event for the Blue Fin run is the new Tuna & Wreckfish Tournament will be in July so watch this space!

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED – We are in the final push to finish off what has been three weeks of flat our renovation. A massive thank you to our small team of helpers here, but now they would like a bit of assistance!  If you can spare some time helping out whether this be cleaning or Club improvements we would love to hear from you! Drop us a line
Congratulations to local angler Darryl Russell off the vessel Nailed It with this Broadbill Swordfish weighing in at 155.20kgs through the Whakatane Sport Fishing Club.
A massive thank you to all of those people that donated towards the Club through this difficult period. This fund raised just over $5,000 that will certainly help cover some of the Club costs incurred over lock down. Just a reminder all of the labour and material cost for the renovation were all donated! It’s amazing what we can get done when the Club pulls together!
BACK TO FISHING! – Great swordfish to the Nailed It team weighed in down in Whakatane on Thursday. Congratualtions Darryl!  No such joy for the few boats that have been sword dropping out the front.  The bluenose fishing however has been working out well with some sizable fish being reported from the Mayor area the past week. Prior to the Queens Birthday weather we have seen some really nice reports of both snapper and tarakihi so its pleasing to see some nice table fish on offer after the lockdown period.  While the Club is still closed we can weigh fish for you. Please call Roly 021 702248 or Kane De Raat 021508 833 and we will arrange a weigh master for you. Also remember vhf channel 3 is the Club’s VHF channel and its there to be used to share information and stay in touch with one another and stay safe. TIGHT LINES!
MOTITI REEFS- SIGN THE PETITION – Congratulations Todd Muller, now leader of the opposition.  Todd is now very well placed, and  very passionate about presenting this petition to parliament, but we need signatures and your support.
