Tauranga Fishing Report 9th September

On Air from 9th Sept (Radio Hauraki, Radio Sport, News Talk)

Good weather coastally has meant some good days on the water allowing access to some of the inshore terakihi spots.  These 20-30m close grounds are holding some nice fish to 1kg but do tend to still be competing with big numbers of juvenile snapper. The best bet if the weather allows is to make your way out a bit further to 50m plus where the terakihi still seem to be more abundant. The plan should be just get on your spot and use at least a 5-6oz weight and ledger rig with small 3/0 recurve hooks. Flasher rigs work well while the baracoutta are not around and for the same reason your better off not to use berley. The best baits bonito and tuatua

This weekend we have the Mount Motorcycles Albacore Hapuka tournament, so look forward to reporting this for you next week. And coming up on the 30th Sept is the Monster Trout Tournament, this one is based in Rotoiti and is a brilliant weekend of big trout, beersies and hospitality.
