STONEY CREEK – ONE BASE 2026

 We are very pleased Stoney Creek are back on board as naming Sponsors for ONE BASE 2026. In conjunction with Stoney Creek the Tauranga Sport Fishing Club has another outstanding event planned. Late February is not far away and limited spaces are now available for the STONEY CREEK ONE BASE 2026.

This year the Nationals will be running at the same time, to fish the nationwide competition you need to enter the Nationals separately.

 

Increased Prize Pool

This year is shaping up to be unforgettable!
We’re giving away $10,000 CASH for the Heaviest Marlin weighed thanks to R&R Tractors.
On top of that, there’s $5,000 CASH up for grabs for the Heaviest Tuna weighed, proudly sponsored by Farmer Auto Village—and they’ve taken things even further with an epic prize for the Longest Snapper: $1,000 cash OR $3,000 towards a new vehicle at Farmer Auto Village!

We have also upped the number of major lucky draws!!!

 

Tournament Dates

The Tournament will start with compulsory skippers briefing on Tuesday 24th February 2026 and proceed with continuous fishing from Wednesday 25th February to Saturday 28th February.  We look forward to your team’s participation in another exciting One Base.

 

Priority Team Entries have now closed. 

This is a temporary 1 year entry to the One Base.

 

Membership

All anglers must be full financial members of either the Tauranga Sport Fishing Club or an affiliated member Club of the New Zealand Sport Fishing Council.  Alternatively, anglers may pay $20 per day for day membership.  You or your crew may renew or join our club as a new member online www.tsfc.co.nz or at the Club.  PLEASE NOTE!  All teams must be finalised by the 10th  February 2026. Any entries received after this date will not be eligible for Lucky Draws.

 

For Anglers entering prior to the 14th January 2026 the entry fee is $200, plus day membership if applicable. The entry fee from thereafter is $220, plus day membership is applicable.

 

Tournament Guide

A 2026 ONE BASE Tournament Guide will be online on the TSFC website early in the New Year.

Our TSFC management team will be administering the tournament and are available should you require any further information.

 

Skippers Pot

The winners will be determined and announced at Tauranga Sport Fishing Club, 66 Keith Allen Drive, Sulphur Point at 6.30pm on 28th February 2026 The results will be read out on the evening of the 28th February 2026, additionally results will be published in the TSFC Newsflash & Facebook Page on the 4th March 2026, and Sunlive Newspaper on the 6th March 2026. Winners have up to 3 months from 28th February 2026 to claim their prize.

Only Captains (or nominated representatives) are eligible to buy tickets.

At least one member of the team must be financially entered in the tournament by 6pm, Tuesday 24th February 2026. The cut off for the Skippers Pot Registration is also 6pm, Tuesday 24th February 2026.

Should any boat/team be scratched, no refunds will be given.

Skippers Pot will be allocated to First, Second and Third, First will equal 40%, Second will equal 20% and Third will equal 10%

20% will be given to Our Backyard Trust and 10 % will be allocated to the Tauranga Sport Fishing Club.

In the event of a draw, the prize money will be split across placings, e.g., Two First Places: 1st and 2nd Place would be added together and split equally.

In the event of no Billfish qualifying for points to cover first, second or third place will be drawn using the Club’s Super-Draw device.

Should a situation arise that is not covered by the rules of the Skippers Pot, the TSFC Committee shall preside to determine a decision that is final. Disputes must be lodged in writing within 24hrs.

Clear pictures of tagged fish must be shown to the weighmaster.  Rod, reel, line, trace, lure, gaff/tag pole involved in the capture of the fish must be presented to the weighmaster. Fish must be caught in accordance with IGFA and NZSFC rules. Billfish Points in accordance with TSFC tournament rules.  

All braid for this event will be deemed to be 60kg regardless of rated line class.

All hook-ups must be called into the tournament VHF channel with outcome.

Captains will be advised via email and a notice will be published in the TSFC Newsflash on the 25th February 2026, should the Skippers Pot be cancelled for any reason and all money will be refund.

Authorised Purpose Statement: 20 percent of the fund will be donated to Our Back Yard Trust for a major clean up event of Tauranga harbour, beaches and marinas and 10 percent of the Skippers Pot funds will be used to further the sport of recreational fishing in the Tauranga community, through provision and maintenance of facilities and equipment, general administration costs (phones, electricity) associated with the running of the Club, also to assist with funding non-commercial bona fide conservation efforts to sport fishing.

Shirts
While every effort is made to ensure that you will receive the correct size, this is not always possible, and priority will be given in order of fully paid entries. Any entries received after the 10th of February will not be guaranteed a Shirt
